Thanks even more for the articles. When you create one with diacritics it is common to add also redirect without the diacritics, like Ladislav Smocek.

Hello. I lengthed a sentence on this article and then you reverted it to a shorter one. I'm not sure why you did this, because in my opinion my version made more sense. Dear Oliver, sorry for not discussing the revert in advance. Some time ago, when I started article about Emília Vášáryová, I did it the same way as you propose - full sentence. Jurohi changed it to the Trivia + bullet points + incomplete sentence style, therefore I did the following pages I started (e.g. Martin Huba) the same way. Wikipedia:Manual of Style says "After the initial mention of any name, the person may be referred to by surname only." Personally, I would prefer either full sentence in the 1st paragraph without any trivia section or the shortened version. JanSuchy 21:48, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Typically, English name is used for an article title.

map for Pernink (no hurry)

You may help me a bit with it. I create the maps in MS Paintbrush just by moving the red spot while looking into an atlas to estimate the best place. The pictures are then put in Commons under standardized name, into category of its own. I usually first create maps for towns and try to use these maps for neighbouring villages. Thanks for contacting me on the English Wikipedia. I always love hearing from other Wikipedians that are interested in Czech topics, no matter whether it's literature, architecture, or physics.

To explain the en-5 thing—I've been learning (and using) English ever since I turned six. Now that I'm 18 I don't personally feel almost any difference between speaking Czech or English (or German, which is almost my second native language). That's what I also use in my work...translating, writing dictionaries, teaching, etc. But don't worry about which/that very much. :-) Many natives are often not sure either.

I will certainly try to check (or, possibly, even expand) the articles you have created. But please don't be upset if it takes longer than desirable. I'm preparing for my school-leaving exam at the moment, and I'm pretty busy with my jobs as well... However, if you're not sure about something, have a question or so, just let me know and I'll be happy to help you.

Hello! I've just transferred Hala Izerska 01.jpg to Commons. It is one of the oldest photos in my collection so I've never had enough will to bring it there. My Commons gallery is not complete, although most of my pictures are there (but not included in the gallery). If you want to see all of my work please visit my user page on pl Wilki. Dobrý den přeji. Při kategorizaci a přetahování nějakých místopisných obrázků na Commons jsem náhodou zjistil, že jste vytvořil pahýlek Czech Central Mountains. Tedy, sám jsem si nebyl nikdy přesně jistý, jaký název (pokud vůbec) se v en: pro tohle pohoří užívá, jedno je ale jisté - to slovíčko Czech tam nemá co dělat. Ty hory se nejmenují podle českého etnika, ale podle polohy v Čechách. Název by tedy IMHO měl být něco jako Bohemian Central Mountains. --Miaow Miaow 21:36, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Adjective Bohemian could be used but the translation of České střeodhoří is a problem. Adjective Czech could be used as well and there is nothing wrong on using it. The more, there is a clear similarity in pronunciation of Czech and Česky so why to avoid Czech in the translation. But as there is no traditional English translation, much better would be to use the Czech name instead of a poor translation as I see today (we do not translate Doupovske vrchy for example). --Cepek 09:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi Jan, thanks for the message on my talk page. The article name "List of narrow gauges in Saxony" isn't a particularly good choice since it doesn't describe the content of the article. First the term "narrow gauges" is ambiguous since it could refer to things other than railways, such as narrow gauge wires or narrow gauge film; so we need to have the word "railway" in the title. Second, the article should not just be a list of the narrow gauge railways in Saxony, it should ideally contain information about them as well. The name Narrow gauge railways in Saxony is therefore better than List of narrow gauges in Saxony.

You can link the Narrow gauge railways in Saxony article to de:Liste der Schmalspurbahnen in Sachsen if you wish - the Interwiki link does not have to be to a literal translation of the English article name.

Articles in English Wikipedia should be named according to the conventions described in the Manual of Style an accurately describe the contents of the article. If you wish to translate the article into Czech you can use whatever naming convention on the Czech Wikipedia that its rules allow. Thanks, Gwernol 13:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
