I earned my M.D. and Ph.D. degree at the University of Lund in Sweden. Currently I am pursuing postdoctoral research at a private institute in Italy. My research is in the field of Microbiology, specifically Gram-positive pathogens. I am also increasingly more fascinated by the opportunities presented within the field of bioinformatics, now that an abundance of genome sequences are available. I have also had academic training in philosophy, psychology and mathematics, and still consider the former two as hobbies that I occasionally return to.
On a personal note I enjoy cooking, dining out, eating well, good wines, literature, and consider myself something of a film buff. A less 'serious' interest of mine is console videogaming, and I have been an avid gamer since the very first consoles became available. And no, my body weight is entirely normal.
I'm new to Wikipedia (dec 2005) but applaud the phenomenon, since I consider open-access information to be vital to an intellectually prosperous society. I do not have the time for any major contributions, but intend to periodically check on the subjects where I have an interest and expertise, in order to make corrections and/or minor expansions.
