Jangheung County (Jangheung-gun) is a county in South Jeolla Province, South Korea.

Jangheung was designated as the first region of slow city not only in South Korea but also in whole Asia with other local Korean regions in December of 2007.

The Festival (1996 film) was taken in Jangheung county by director Im Kwon-taek.[1] The film conveys deep Korean traditional culture together with natural sceneries of county.

In Jangheung, Cheonkwan Mt. is famous for beautiful sceneries with eulalias. The plants start to grow its full scale from mid September and continue to keep its beauty to Oct.[2]

The county is famous for its production of pyogo mushroom(표고버섯). These vegetables are not chemically treated and are originally cultivated in uncontaminated land.[3] Its reputation fits current trends in well-being and gets wide publicity.[4]

Other crops from strawberries to herbs used in Korean medicine are widely cultivated by eco-friendly methods. Jangheung county officially got an award for being the best region growing high-quality crops in 2006.[5]
