Jang Group of Newspapers

Jang Group of Newspapers (colloquially known as simply Jang Group) is Pakistan’s largest group of newspapers and the publisher of the Urdu newspaper the Daily Jang (جنگ), The News International, Mag Weekly, and Awam.

Mir Khalil ur Rehman was the founder of the group and his son, Mir Shakil ur Rehman, is the present head of the business house. Although it is based in Karachi, the group belongs to a Punjabi family.

The Daily Jang is the largest Urdu language newspaper in Pakistan. the owner Khalil ur Rehman and one of the friends that helped him publish the newspaper was Mr Nisar ahmed who is still a friend to this day.The Daily Jang is the Urdu language newspaper. The Daily Jang is published by the Jang Group of Newspapers. The Group's flagship Jang is Pakistan's national daily. It is published in Urdu from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Multan and London. It has a circulation of over 800,000 copies per day . Mir Khalil ur Rehman was the founder of the newspaper and now his younger son Mir Shakil ur Rehman is continuing the publication of this paper.

The News International (ISSN 1563-9479) is the second largest English-language newspaper in Pakistan after Dawn. It is published simultaneously from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.The News has an ABC certified circulation of 140,000. It is published from Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi/Islamabad. An overseas edition is published from London that caters to the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom and plans first got underway in 1989 to start publication in New York City, United States with the assistance of New York based journalist and entrepreneur (and former Jang employee) Imran Anwar but were later shelved.

The current staff of The News comprise some of the best journalists of Karachi.
