Janet Steinbeck (born February 27, 1951) was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1960s, who won a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.

Coming from Queensland, Steinbeck combined with Lynne Watson, Lyn McClements and Judy Playfair to register a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay, trailing the Americans home by 1.7s. However, it was in Steinbeck's freestyle anchor leg that American Susan Pedersen was able to convert a 0.5s deficit into a 1.7s margin of victory. Competing in the individual 100m freestyle, Steinbeck was eliminated in the semifinals. She also finished fourth as part of the 4x100m freestyle relay team. Two years earlier in the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, Steinbeck won a silver medal in the 4x110yd freestyle relay.
