Janaab' Pakal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pacal I or Pakal I (d. March 9, 612) was an ajaw of the Maya city-state of Palenque. His dynastic position is not entirely certain[1], though he may have been the brother of Aj Ne' Yohl Mat. It seems that he never ascended to the high-kingship in his own right. He was the father of Lady Sak K'uk', one of the rare queens regnant of Mayan history.

He should not be confused with his grandson Pacal II, better known as Pacal the Great.
