Jan Triska or Jan Tříska (IPA[ˈjan ˈtr̝̊iːska]) (4 November 1936 in Prague) is a Czech-American actor. After signing the Charter 77 proclamation he emigrated to the United States via Cyprus. Before his emigration he performed in the theater and had many roles in movies, for example in Starci na chmelu (1964), the movie version of Radúz a Mahulena (1970) and in the communist propaganda piece 30 Cases of Major Zeman. In the U.S. he played the assassin in Miloš Forman's The People vs. Larry Flynt, besides appearing in Highlander: The Series, Highlander: The Raven, Osterman's Weekend, Ronin, and many others. He returned to Czechoslovakia after the Velvet Revolution of 1989 to perform in such movies as Obecná škola (1991), Horem pádem (2004) and the Academy Award nominated Želary (2003). In 2002, Tříska received an Alfréd Radok Award for his performance as Lear in King Lear at the Summer Shakespeare Festival at Prague Castle. Despite occasional visits to the Czech Republic, Triska continues to live in the United States.
