Jan McLucas

Jan Elizabeth McLucas (b. March 27, 1958) is an Australian politician, representing the Australian Labor Party.
Born in 1958 to Ronald and Audrey McLucas, Jan McLucas was educated at Clayfield College in Brisbane and the College of Advanced Education in Townsville.[1]
Before entering federal Parliament, McLucas was a Councillor on the Cairns Council from 1995 to 1999, and a teacher for the Queensland Department of Education from 1979-89.[1]
McLucas was elected to the Australian Senate for Queensland in October 1998. Her first term began on 1 July 1999. In 2004, McLucas was elected Federal Shadow Minister for Ageing, Disabilities and Carers. She was re-elected at the 2004 election.
On 3 December 2007, she was sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing, in the First Rudd Ministry.
