Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński

Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński (1806-1885), was a Polish medical doctor, collector and publisher. He was known for publishing the "Vilna Album" (Album Wileńskie, Album de Wilna).

Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński was born near Utena. 1824-1827 he studied at Vilnius Academy, 182-1831 in Paris, later finished Vilnius medical-surgery Academy. Had a medical practice in Warsaw and Vilnius.
He was know as aart and numismatic collector, was a mamber of St.Petersburg and Vilnius archaelogical commisions. Sine 1846 in Paris started printing Album de Wilna. The album consists of 364 lythographies, chromlythographies and carvings[1].
Wilczyński did also publish Vilna Archeological Museum album, albums of Warsaw and Kiev and other books.
He died in Vilnius and is buried at the Rasos Cemetery.
