Jan Šimák (born October 13, 1978 in Tábor) is a Czech footballer, currently signed to German 2. Bundesliga team FC Carl Zeiss Jena. He is an attacking midfielder who possesses an extremely powerful shot and sumptuous skils.
He has previously played for Hannover 96 and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, and Sparta Prague in his homeland, where he won two league titles. He has also played for the Czech national football team once, in a 4-1 friendly win over Slovakia on August 21, 2002. Before the 2007-08 season Simak, a key player for Sparta Prague was forced to move to FC Carl Zeiss Jena by his club because of indiscipline.
In July 2008 he will move to VfB Stuttgart[1].
