[edit] Date of this work: 1963 or 1964?
The date of "Plum Point" is given by both Stanton (1968) and Yoseloff (1975) as 1964. Yet the catalogue for the first of Jane Frank's two solo exhibitions at New York's Bodley Gallery, which ran from Oct. 22nd to November 9th, 1963, not only lists the painting by title, dimensions, and medium description, but also includes a full-page color plate of the work. Furthermore, Stanton also notes (p. 41) that "Plum Point" was featured on the cover of Art Voices magazine in 1963. One can only speculate as to the explanation for this discrepancy. It is possible that Jane Frank revised the painting after the Bodley show, and then gave it a later completion date.
