[edit] RSS

Sourcing for RSS is a puzzling issue. Generally blogs are not reliable sources, but we couldn't really cite the RSS history without them. However it bothers me that we would add yet more info about the doings of the RSS Advisory Board when no-one has found any reliable sources that write about them. Isn't that supposed to be our measure of what things are important enough to cover? My point of mentioning Dave Winer is that conventional media write about him. By continuing to add new material to RSS and perhaps also the RSS Advisory Board which have only online references, I think we are getting farther and farther away from the kind of sources that are considered respectable. Winer founded the board. The group includes reps from big companies like Google, has been around for years and has a Wikipedia entry. I don't see why it should be treated as a non-respectable source. The media didn't cover the publication of the Atom protocol by the IETF, or at least I didn't see any coverage. That does not mean it was too unimportant for mention here.
