The Crimson is a student-run newspaper of Florida Institute of Technology. The newspaper features campus headlines, campus life, diversions, science and technology, opinion/editorials, and sports sections.
[edit] Space Coast Coverage
The Crimson is one of the few college newspapers that receive media passes to Kennedy Space Center shuttle launches. The newspaper frequently interviews graduates of Florida Tech who work at NASA and their subcontractors, including Harris Corporation, Northrop Grumman, United Space Alliance, and others.
[edit] Other Coverage
This student newspaper generally reports athletic news, campus happenings, movie reviews, and receives guest articles from members of the student body, faculty, and staff of the university. Other news articles are derivatives of Associated Press articles as well as direct press statements from Florida Tech's University Press.
[edit] Compact Layout Transition
[[|left|thumb|The Crimson Broadsheet to Compact Format Switch - Fall 2007]]In Fall 2007, The Crimson moved from a traditional broadsheet format to Compact (newspaper) format.
[edit] Production & Distribution
The Crimson is produced at Florida Institute of Technology's Grissom Hall, next to FITV (Florida Tech's CCTV Channel 99) and WCRR (Florida Tech's student-run radio station). The newspaper itself is a registered student organization and supports itself through student activities funding as well as corporate sponsors.
Printing of The Crimson is made possible by Florida Today, as the student newspaper is printed through Florida Today's printers.
The Crimson is freely distributed throughout Florida Institute of Technology's Melbourne Campus. In addition, the campus newspaper is ordered by over 300 families of current students and countless families of Florida Tech alumni.
