Jameson Thottam founder of iBroker.com, Inc. and innovator for online mortgage brokerage platform, was born Chicago, Illinois, in 1972, was the son of Luke Thottam and Thresiamma Thottam.
Mr. Thottam was a the first generation child of a South Indian immigrant family who moved to the United States in Southern California in 1971.
Mr. Thottam entered the sport of fencing during his Junior year of high school and achieved top rankings as an Epeeist throughout his college career at the University of California, Berkeley, where, at his peak, he was an A-ranked fencer ranked 15th in the nation by point standings.
He went on to graduate from UC Berkeley with dual undergraduate degrees in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research and Economics. He went on to received a Masters of Science in “Industrial Engineering & Operations Research” and a Masters of Business Administration from the “Wharton Business School”.
After having worked in Investment Banking (Mergers & Acquisitions) at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Thottam went on to become a a serial entrepreneur, Thottam was became founding member of the MedChannel.com, Inc. and iBroker, Inc.. Both, online ventures focused on leveraging the internet technologies to empower end users. He subsequently has held several senior executive positions at multi-billion dollar publicly traded real estate firms (i.e., [1], [2]).
I-Broker, Inc. was one of the Great 8 Business Plans produced in the [Wharton Business Plan Competition]. Over 130 business plans were submitted, and Jameson Thottam, as President of the group, and his team were selected through the finals. The firm went on to speak at various events including Venture Talk Radio.
Jameson Thottam has served on the board of multiple organizations including Homestore International, the Wharton Alumni Board, and Sun Farm Corporation. He is a Benjamin Franklin Fellows member and has spoken at multiple academic conferences including [UCLA], UC Berkeley, and the University of Pennsylvannia and serves an adviser to other serial entrepreneurs through the Wharton Business Plan Competitions.] He has chaired the 2006 Class Gift for the Wharton Business School and has served as the [2006 Wharton Reunion Manager.]
As a continuation of his entrepreneurial spirit, he owns and manages “4010 Dumbarton Corporation” with a focus on providing strategy consulting, finance and real estate services and investments.
Today, with his family, James Thottam resides in Houston, Texas where he has given up fencing, and spends his time, outside of work, playing guitar and dancing with dreams of building a family.
