User:James086/RfA withdraw
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi James086 - you just submitted/accepted a [[Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/subst:PAGENAME}}|request for adminship]]. I urge you to withdraw your nomination. Though there are no formal requirements to become an admin, candidates without adequate experience -- a minimum of 1000 to 2000 edits and at least several months as an active editor -- are almost totally without exception unsuccessful. Please do not be discouraged by this - as Jimbo Wales (founder of Wikipedia) has said, adminship is no big deal.
Withdrawing now will increase the likelihood that a future RfA will be successful, after you have more experience. In addition to your continuing to contribute to articles, I suggest you become active in areas which other editors think of as demonstrations of an editor's ability to be a capable admin: deletion discussions, deletion review, requests for page protection, patrolling recent pages, and reporting persistent vandals to WP:AIV.
Finally, I recommend (re)reading the guide to requests for adminship and Wikipedia:What adminship is not. And don't let this discourage you from editing - being a Wikipedian is a learning experience, and your contributions so far are really appreciated.
