12/1998 - Present - GTOpenDatabase L.L.C. – Software Solutions
Technology Partners International, Houston, TX; TPI–MPACT v2.1 – BI Solutions Provider
As an architect, programmer, and database designer of a financial modeling tool currently in production as version 2.1, translated complex business processes into concrete computer database and GUI systems. Database design, efficiency, and compartmentalization were this applications strong point. TPI is the largest financial outsourcing-consulting firm. -Migrated complex EXCEL financial algorithms into Visual Basic Code for data delivery in .xls format -Where two other firms tried and failed, I used precise data modeling methodologies to complete this project under budget and ahead of schedule. They are currently my longest and best customer relationship. Environment: Microsoft Windows 95-98-NT-2000-XP/Office XP, Visual Basic 6, MS Access 2000, Sheridan Data Widgets

Accounting - Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) \ Sales Configurator Programming \ Process Improvement The major goal of this project was to implement the SyteLine 7.4 ERP Sales configurator, automated sales quote generating functionality in the Oil & Gas and Industrial Product lines. Maintained production testing and development environmental database of product configurator models, including version tracking, backup, and production tracking. Responsible for the Excel.xls pricing worksheets used to produce database flat files. These files are used to drive pricing, options, and products available in the ERP estimate items master. Using Trillog’s PowerPack configurator created and compiled models that specified all parts and products in a product line, showing which parts could be used in each product, and the relationship between parts, in a pricing finance environment. Programmed / designed / maintained the interface between the SyteLine ERP system items and orders with the Configuration User Interface. Engineered custom user interfaces utilized in the selection of product sales orders. Generated custom VBA MS Word sales estimate documents resulting from the sales estimate configuration. The resulting estimates integrated pictures, sales text, weights and dimensions, and pricing from centralized sources. Acted as the DBA for multiple SQL Server 2000 data servers, monitoring space, indexes, tables, TSQL and overall day-to-day server health. Managed multiple IIS web sites/ servers with ASPX and HTML screen programming to SQL Server.
Other Projects: -ASPX Web Bill of Lading - Created a Visual Studio 2005 web ASPX application to generate bill of lading documents for shipment transportation, with label printing and shipment tag functionality, interacting with a MS SQL Server 2000 database and IIS 6.0. Administered web site and SQL Server permissions groups and files. -VB.NET Executive BI Tool - While learning their ERP database structures, developed a Visual Studio 2005 VB.NET custom graphic drill-down interface allowing for reporting on Sales Estimate volume, Order Entry metrics, and WHSE transfer volumes. Total dollar value drill-down into products, items, and line item detail. The presentation layer is Office Web Graph Component with click and drill interactions with live graph data. Full export capability to excel via custom VBA.NET interop procedures included data, graph, and format end products. -Cognos Business Intelligence Administration - the creation of data Cubes, reports, and queries based on SyteLine 7 ERP source data. Utilized Impromptu administrator to connect to multiple data sources. Isolated BI testing environment, as to not slow down production while in development mode. Documented existing BI reports, data, users, objects, and data delivery methods with a goal of developing a Data Delivery Methodology and Approach. -ASPX Web Shipping Summary and Inventory WHSE Reporting / Process Improvement – ETL’d disparate data from multiple scattered business processes into clear reportable Internet BI reporting, using TSQL in SSIS, SMS, and Transact SQL custom programming. Delivered the data to the user via ASP.NET custom web interface executing TSQL programming to deliver Crystal Reports in a Web IIS IE presentation layer, as output to Portable Document Format (PDF). Project Manager / Senior Software Technical Consultant – Reporting Self-Service Crystal.NET ETL Application CTG sub-contracted Joe for a 2-3 week engagement scoped to create Crystal Report. Value added enhancements to the project utilize Microsoft Visual Studio 2003’s Visual Basic .NET programming environment to perform two independent programming tasks. The first is an Interactive Reporting Facility. This is a self-service model following the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) design methodology, allowing for the end user to relieve Information Technology Group (ITG) resources from running requested reports. Exposed to a report library, the end-user can execute the program, pick a report, enter parameters, and generate the report. The document then can be sent via email, fax, or exported to the disk file system as any type of document supported in their environment, PDF being the document of choice. Other projects include a console application, scheduling and automating the creation, export, and electronic distribution of reporting documents in PDF format via email integration with the Lotus Notes Domino products suite. This scheduled functionality channeled reports into the existing Lotus report receiving hierarchy automatically generating Portable Document Format (PDF) documents, emailed to the recipient. With a VB.NET Graphic User Interface (GUI) the users could generate ‘on-demand’ reporting interacting with scan-store-retrieve work basket aging, Claims data, and underwriting information ETL’d to a Crystal.Net reporting tool. I conducted all phases of the Software Systems Life Cycle (SLC), meeting with Division VP to Analyst level resources in the requirements and definition phase. This assignment delivered complete Network Computing Installation documentation, facilitating a smooth transition to the production support team, including web setup and deployment packages. This application utilized XML configuration files specifying report distribution and email attributes. Other projects included an RFP (Request For Proposal) intended to give an estimate of the time and materials needed to convert an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) script application, written in KeyLink (BWC Systems) into a SQL Server X (any version) Data Transformation Service (DTS) enterprise solution. The SQL Server DTS environment will bring an automated centralized, easy to maintain solution, having the ability to be easily expanded to include any Agency Management System (AMS) and any ACORD message format. All program/script logic was to be upgraded to SQL ActiveX Scripting Language. Future enhancements/ upgrades can include the ability to create XML files and message transactions for every aspect of Merchant’s Business, from Property and Casualty to transmitting first notice of loss to an insurer.

Microsoft PDA Symbol PPT 2700 Imbedded Visual Basic 3.0 Programmer / PDA Inventory Software Demo The logical principals of the Matrix Imaging -Inventory Picture System (MI-IPS) business model are simple. Combine a modular, scalable, and compact architecture with a short time to market and a low cost of entry. This corporate goal will be facilitated down to the programming of the functional business principles built into the Graphic User Interface (GUI). Most Inventory driven applications have one great deficiency, the user cannot see the item, which they are ordering or physically counting. Our Dynamic GUI (D-GUI) will overcome this obstacle allowing the customer to program the database with the categories, which divide the order entry items into logical divisions. The more categories the customer has, the more buttons show up on the screen. In most applications the screen must be programmed every time the customer changes the menu or any of its' structures. A scroll bar or keys are used to reach the buttons which might not be as popular and are ordered as such to display out of sight! This was all delivered to the SYMBOL PPT 2700 series hand held barcode device in real time over TCPIP wireless network protocols.
