[edit] Encyclopedic?
This page almost looks like a vanity page. And what's with all the announcements at the end? Do these ephemeral issues really deserve to be in an encyclopedia? "...muffins from Muffin Break and an Easter egg hunt"? Who gives a toss?
I may consider putting up an AfD on this... Camillustalk|contribs 13:36, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Firefighters gear up to have a ball
THE heat of summer may have gone but the memory of the North East bushfires and the heroics of firefighters, lives on.
As a tribute to their efforts, The Fire Fighters Benefit Ball will be held at Alburys SS and A Club on Saturday night.
Event organiser and 105.7 The River breakfast host Jamie McDonald said the sight of clouds of smoke as he drove home from holidays in January had prompted him to arrange the ball.
“Its just nice to stop and thank the people that have helped the community,” he said.
Firefighters will be admitted free to the ball.
CFA operations officer Mr Brett Boatman, who spent 3 weeks at the Mt Hotham front and a month in co-ordination, welcomed the concept.
Tickets are available from The Border Mail, The River and WAW Credit Union offices.

Heres cheers to 105.7 The River
REGARDING 105.7 The Rivers Water for Christmas initiative.
As a very grateful recipient of |a truckload of water we would like |to say a big “thank you” to all who have donated to this wonderful |initiative.
Jaimie and all the staff at The River should be very proud of the difference they are making for people right across the region.
Water is such a valuable resource, and I hope that efforts such as|this will highlight how precious water is.
To those who are fortunate enough to have unlimited access to drinking water, value it dont waste it.
With one small child and another on the way, this was the best Christmas present we could have received and we look forward to toasting all involved with a long, icy cold glass of water on Christmas Day.

Paige makes appeal for hospital
The River's Jamie McDonald and Paul Campion with Paige McDonald at Belgrade Av Kindergarten.
PAIGE McDonald owes her life to the expert care provided by the Wodonga District Hospital.
Last month she had her 25th stay in the hospital.
Paige, 5?, of Wodonga, was born with major problems including a hole in the heart and no oesophagus, and only minutes after being born stopped breathing.
She was resuscitated and flown to the Royal Childrens' Hospital where she spent most of her first 14 months, undergoing eight major operations.
Paige's family was told that had it not been for the expert staff at Wodonga, Paige would not have made it to Melbourne.
Now Paige and her family are getting behind an appeal launched by the morning crew at radio station FM 105.7 The River to raise money for the ward.
The appeal, launched on Tuesday, aimed to raise enough to buy a $1500 cot.
But an overwhelming response has seen the figure hit the $4000 mark already.
According to Paul ``Campo Campion and Jamie McDonald, of the morning crew, the appeal was a way to encourage people to help a worthwhile organisation.
The appeal started with a letter read on air on Tuesday from Geordie Marsh, 10, of Baranduda.
Geordie, who has leukaemia, recently spent time in the children's ward, and he and his family wanted to say thank you for the care he received.
Tomorrow, from 6am, the morning crew will broadcast from the car park of the hospital.
As part of the fun there will be muffins from Muffin Break and an Easter egg hunt and the Easter bunny for children.
Mrs Jan Pithie, from Jannoel Florists, and Darrell Lea Chocolates who has donated the Easter eggs, have urged Border residents to support the appeal.
Donations can be left at the Hume Building Society. NickelShoe 22:32, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
