[edit] Speedy nomination

The article creator has embedded a comment in the article with the text:

"To the person who tried to claim that this was eligible for CSD: It isn't, it has reliable sources. If you want it gone, go through Articles for Deletion." Ros0709 (talk) 21:26, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I proposed this article for deletion with the text "not yet notable". At present the team does not exist - the website is still a call for tryouts - and they have not played any games. There is no specific guideline for notability of sports teams but given it has played no games I based this on the similar case of a newly formed band that has had no success: it would be ineligable for inclusion. It has reliable sources (the Jamestown Post-Journal). That is the criterion for SPEEDY deletion-- reliable sources. If you have a problem with the actual nature itself, submit it under ARTICLES FOR DELETION instead. Speedy deletion is for blatant violations, which this is not. There are plenty of other articles about teams and leagues that are still in "planning" stages, and they are in no threat of being deleted. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 21:48, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
