[edit] DYK

The "Did you know" section on the main page is confusing, as it cites his resignation from the New York State Supreme Court as an interesting factoid, making it sound as though he was one of the highest ranking jurists in the state before accepting this appointment. In fact, the New York State Court of Appeals is the court of highest jurisdiction in the state, and the New York State Supreme Court(s) are simply courts of general jurisdiction (also known as generic, trial level courts). - Patrick —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.93.210.149 (talk) 20:02, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I think that is the idea of WP:DYK, because it is an interesting factoid none the less. Also, the Chief Justice of the Appeals court is vacant, and now that Yates has risen to Counsel to the Governor, he would be an obvious choice for that role. The quote states "...that Judge James Yates resigned from the New York State Supreme Court to be General counsel to the Governor of New York David Paterson?", where exactly does it say that its above the Court of Appeals? It does not. It simply states he resigned from the New York State Supreme Court. MrPrada (talk) 20:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
