Samboy Lim is listed as chinese-filipino while James Yap is just filipino. Both have chinese surnames, please verify the difference and explain whether they are part or full chinese?

please clarify if he is full chinese or part chinese. From who's side of the family, mother's surname?

please verify why james yap is listed as filipinos of chinese descent but without any explanation to support that. Please provide explanation why he was categorized as such.
