[edit] Antoher KH2 mention

Norrington is not the only person to be mentioned in Kingdom Hearts II, Bootstrap Bill Turner is also mentioned in Kingdom Hearts II by his son Will Turner when talking to Elizabeth inside of the Interceptor after leaving Isla De Muerta.

OK, I´ve corrected this.

[edit] Guybrush Threepwood's costume?

I was just wondering if the similarity between Guybrush's costume in Monkey Island 2 and Norrington's costume in Dead Man's Chest should be mentioned? The blue coat, the beard, etc. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.29.47.113 (talk) 07:09, 24 April 2007 (UTC).

Original research. Sorry. Dac 07:28, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] At Worlds' End novelisation

Can someone confirm that his death - which a user has said is confirmed in the novelisation of the third film - is correct? Tphi

Well, we have two interpretations of Norrington's death: one where Bootstrap kills him, and another where soldiers kill him. For now, I suggest we go with the Bootstrap one (it came from a leaked script). Jienum 17:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
From a quote I read online from the novelisation, it merely states that soldiers "descend" on him - not confirming death at all. And the script where he's run through by Bootstrap was only the a first draft for budgeting. It doesn't, for instance, include the now confirmed kiss between him and Liz. Tphi 19:40, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Sao Feng being blown away by a cannonball was only the first draft, but that ended up in the film according to the featurette "Characters". I think the Bootstrap/Norrington duel is the more reliable one, since novelisations often differ from their specific movies (see X-Men 3 for example). Jienum 21:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Norrington is killed by Bootstrap, but not in a duel. Norrington is in the midst of helping Elizabeth and the other pirates escape when Bootstrap discovers them and yells that the prisoners are escaping. Norrington has a chance to kill Bootstrap and escape to The Empress, but he for some reason chooses not to do so, and instead shoots the line that connects The Empress to The Flying Dutchman, thus ensuring Elizabeth's escape but sealing his own fate in the process. Before he can turn to face Bootstrap, Bootstrap stabs him through the stomach. Are we not allowed to start new sections on the James Norrington page? Because I put a bunch of information (albiet partially speculation) on there about him possibly returning from the dead and now its gone. At any rate, does anyone else think that he might return (based on evidence from the third movie)? PiratadelCaribe ?, 28 May 2007
Will may bring him back from World's End. He's the new captain of the Dutchman and it's now "Will Turner's Locker". LOL! Jienum 16:19, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Norrington's sword

His sword has been an important plot device throughout the three films, though I have to admit while watching the third I got a little confused as to who had it when after poor Norrie passed it on to Jones. If anyone can remember who had it when, I think this article needs to mention it. Tphi 15:26, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I think it's quite clear that it was Will and Will alone who made that sword, as he was an accomplished swordsmith and his master was a useless drunk. Will's reactions at Governor Swans praise of the sword as well as Norringtons words at the end of how the one who made it was to have that kind of care and devotion in every aspect leaves little doubt that will was the swords creator. elder

(spolier for AWE)

Ok I saw the movie a few weeks ago, so the memory is a bit shady, but didn't Will end up getting stabbed by that sword? It's funny how many times its exchanged hands. (P.s. Norrington's death was complete stupidity)

Yes, it was the sword that killed Will (as stated above and on the Sword's section in the article. And yes, it was complete stupidity. Please sign your posts! Tphi 23:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Will wasn't killed by the sword, he was only fatally wounded. Emperor001 00:44, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Though Will was stabbed by this sword, this article is wrong because the sword crossed with Elizabeth's sword in the sand at the end of the film is NOT Norrington's smallsword; it's just a stock Pirate cutlass. This statement in the article is false and should be removed. --Seth

[edit] Steve Coogan

Is it me or does he look strikingly similar to Steve Coogan, who played Alan Partridge?

Wikipedia isn't the place for fan chat. And please sign your comments. (Though to be honest, no he doesn't. Norrington's far fitter.) Tphi 01:09, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Admiral

Why does the article say "Admiral of the East India Trading Company"? Admiral is a military rank, not the rank of a company. Shouldn't it say Admiral of the Royal Navy and employee of the East India Trading Company or something like that? Emperor001 21:43, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:James Norrington -4.JPG

Image:James Norrington -4.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Is this meant to be here, or is someone trying to be funny?

In the appearance section of the article it says something like 'James Norrington looks like an ice cream cone!!' I was just wondering if someone should edit this out or is it meant to be there. There's also something similar about the sword. Just thought something like that wasn't really up to encyclopedia standards...

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.38.111 (talk) 20:48, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it was all vandalism of some sort. I’ve taken care of it ☺ BlackPearl14Pirate Lord-ess 01:46, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
