Jamuna Ramanarao

Mrs Jamuna (b. Aug 30 1936), also known as Jamuna Ramanarao, is a veteran Telugu glamorous actress, a director and a politician. She acted in 198 films in Telugu and other south Indian languages. She also acted in Hindi films, winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Milan (1967), repeating her role from the original Telugu film Mooga Manshulu (1963).

She was born to Nimpani Srinivas Rao, Telugu business man, and Kausalya Devi, Kannada woman, in Hampi, Karnataka, India in 1936. She grew up in Duggirala, Guntur District in Andhra Pradesh state, India. She was a stage artist in school. Her mother taught her vocal music and harmonium. Dr. Rajarao watched her stage show Maa Bhoomi and gave her offer to act in his movie Puttillu in 1952.
She married Professor Juluri Ramanarao, a zoology professor in Osmania University, in 1965. They are blessed with one son, Vamsikrishna and daughter, Shravanthi. She joined Congress party in 1980s and switched to B.J.P. in 1990s. She also established Telugu artist association and doing socail service through it for the last 25 years.
