Jamil Naqsh

Jamil Naqsh is a Pakistani painter deemed the only living Pakistani Modern Master artist. He was born in Kairana in 1938, India, and later moved to Karachi, Pakistan.


Jamil Naqsh mostly paints woman and pigeon and this obsession has won him local as well as international acclaim. His paintings have become popular at international auction houses, including, Bonhams. He paints his companion, Najmi Sura and his experimented with his favourite subject 'woman' often integrating the elements of horse or child.


Jamil Naqsh has also painted Islamic calligraphy in his modern style with unique and bold brush strokes. Jamil Naqsh trained as a miniaturist from former NCA Professor, Ustaad Haji Sharif. Jamil Naqsh currently lives a reclusive life in London.

His paintings have been displayed in exhibitions in Karachi including Unicorn Gallery, Momart, Mohatta Palace: a Retrospective of Jamil Naqsh's paintings
