Jamie O'Neal (born Jamie Murphy on June 3, 1968, in Sydney, Australia) is a contemporary country singer and songwriter who has had success in the United States. Her parents, Jimmy and Julie Murphy, were also professional musicians. O'Neal reached the summit of the Billboard country charts with her first two singles, "There Is No Arizona" and "When I Think About Angels" (both from her debut gold album Shiver).
O'Neal was awarded Billboard's "Top New Country Artist", ACM's "Top New Female Vocalist", Gavin's "Top Country Artist" and nominated for four Grammy awards, three CMA awards, and one AMA award. Her compositions have been recorded by other successful artists, including LeAnn Rimes, CeCe Winans, Chely Wright, Tammy Cochran, and Martina McBride.
In the early part of her career she was a backing singer in her native Australia, most famously appearing on Kylie Minogue's Enjoy Yourself Tour of Australia, UK, Europe and Far East Asia in 1990. She rejoined Kylie on tour in 1991 for the Rhythm Of Love Tour (Australia and Far East Asia) and the Let's Get To It Tour of the UK and Ireland.
O'Neal is married to her band leader, singer/songwriter/recording engineer Rodney Good. They have one daughter, Aliyah Kailin Good (born June 2003).
As of July 2007, O'Neal has parted ways with Capitol Records.[1] O'Neal is now signed with 1720 Entertainment.
