Jamie Murray (The Real World)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jamie Murray (born October 27, 1977) was a cast member on MTV's reality television series, The Real World: New Orleans during the Spring of 2000. He subsequently reappeared on several of MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge seasons: Extreme Challenge (2001), Battle of the Sexes (2003), and The Gauntlet II (2005). Following his brief tenure as reality television star on The Real World, Murray was arrested on May 5, 2001 for illegally bungee jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately for Murray, his bungee ropes had become entangled and he needed to be rescued by emergency personnel. Murray said he jumped off the bridge to "spread love". In a statement he released, Murray said, "This jump is my way of drawing attention to the need for a positive movement of personal growth and social healing." Murray, along with his friends, created Soul Gear, an extreme sports and clothing Web site. Murray travels around the United States as a motivational speaker. His qualifications for this job are questionable, since he primarily seems qualified to motivate people to get on a reality television program. He participated in the recent AIDS Ride, a bicycle ride from San Francisco to L.A., to raise money for AIDS. In 2005, Murray appeared again on MTV in the The Gauntlet 2. In the season premier, Murray stated that prior to his departure to film the reality show, he was living in a Buddhist Temple. Murray is currently selling a type of beer tap called the Ubertap [1] and working as a clerk at the Chicago Board of Trade. His favorite food is all burritos and he is currently a level 35 Halo player. In 1994 he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout while being a member of troop 3 in Willmette.

Murray is a brother in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, having joined the Cornell University chapter.
