James Michael Johnston (born July 7, 1989) is a Canadian actor. He is perhaps best known for his role as Peter Stone on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Jamie was born in Toronto, Ontario and has English, Scottish and Irish ancestry. He began modeling at the age of nine, and went on to perform in commercials before being cast in a role in the play Aesop Fables: A Man, A Boy & A Donkey at the Trinity Theatre. Johnston's stage performances also include PM Productions' Epimendes and Job And The Snake at the Betty Oliphant Theatre and a local community theatre production of The Chrysalids.

Johnston currently plays Peter Stone on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He has also recently appeared on the series Wild Card. He is a student at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, and has a wide range of interests, including soccer, snowboarding, skateboarding, cycling and playing the guitar. There is a rumour that he is a cousin of the Emmy-nominated actress Sara Paxton.

His favorite role of all was the role he played in the new Nickelodeon Series " Mann's Edge" as Rodrick. He says " It was a delightful experience to play this part because I got to hang around my all time favorite actor, Bruce Macaulny.
