[edit] Overview

It took a long time for Jamie Hope to find the desire to come to Emmerdale. He felt that his father Bob abandoned him and his sister Dawn when they were kids and even though she’d managed to forge a fantastic relationship with Bob, Jamie wasn’t sure he could, but at the marriage of Bob to his fourth wife Viv proved to be enough of a draw to get Jamie to let bygones be bygones. And when they met again, it was immediately clear that Jamie and Bob are cut from exactly the same cloth.

[edit] Dad/son bonding

Even though he turned up for the wedding, Jamie wasn’t about to forgive and forget the past. He landed a punch on his dad’s nose at the reception when Bob had a go at his mother Jean and told the bewildered groom that he could never forgive him. an when Jamie flew back to Spain, Bob was saddened. He’d wanted so much to have another chance with his son but it seemed that all was lost. So when Jamie arrived back a few weeks later, Bob was overjoyed.

[edit] Conning his dad

However, Jamie wasn’t after a cuddly reunion with his old man. Pretending to be the dutiful son, Jamie tried to con Bob out of £2,000 so he could pay off an ex-girlfriend who was keeping his prize pooch Snoop hostage. When Bob rumbled Jamie’s plan he was heartbroken. He threatened to cut Jamie off forever if he walked away with the money and after much soul searching, the lad decided he wanted to get to know his dad after all.

[edit] Working with Viv Hope and Rodney Blackstock

But Emmerdale is a small place with a bloke with big ideas. Stuck working at stepmother Viv’s café to pay off the loan Bob had given him, Jamie was bored and frustrated – especially when his exotic food ideas were given short shrift - he then stumbled upon a new venue of employment when local antiques dealer Rodney Blackstock gave him the chance to prove what a great salesman he is. He made a tidy profit but a full time position didn’t materialize so resourceful Jamie decided to go it alone again.

[edit] Dawn Woods' death

After his sister Dawn died as a result of the Kings River Showhome explosion Jamie started a vendetta with his father against the Kings. However as time passed Bob became worried for Jamie as he feared that Jamie would exhibit the ultimate revenge. On the day of Tom King's death Jamie was at Home Farm with revenge in mind. He was separted from Bob at made his own way home and lied about ever going to Home Farm. Bob believed that Jamie could be the killer so he confessed to be the killer. When Jamie learned this he made a statement to the police saying he was at Home Farm and didn't have an alibi for the time of death. Realising they didn't have enough evidence to prosecute Bob the police where forced to release him. However both father and son remained suspect for the murder.

[edit] Relationship with Louise Appleton
