"Jamie's Cryin" is a 1978 song by Van Halen from their debut Van Halen. The song was written and recorded live during the three week sessions for the album. The song discusses a woman who meets a man that only wants a one-night stand. She turns him down, but is sad for what might have been. Drummer Alex Van Halen identifies this song as his least favorite Van Halen song.
For recording of the song vocalist David Lee Roth wanted to go for a cleaner "poppier" sound and quit smoking and drinking for a week before the final version was to be recorded. The band noticed the difference on Roth's vocals on what was to be the album version and Alex Van Halen ordered him outside to smoke and drink whiskey. Roth returned about half an hour later and recorded the track with more huskiness to his voice.[citation needed]
Rapper Tone Lōc sampled the song heavily on the hit "Wild Thing", without giving the band credit or seeking permission. Van Halen did not sue him, however.
