Jami Smith
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jami Smith is a Christian recording artist and worship leader based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jami travels the United States and the world leading audiences in worship with her original music. In 1999, Jami established Spring Rain Ministries, a non-profit ministry. She spends her time serving in her local community along with a full schedule of leading worship, speaking and writing.
Philosophy: "My idea of worship is not a concert, not entertainment, but an interaction between people and God. My hope is to encourage vulnerability before a loving God that we might plead for Him to interrupt our lives," Jami says.
Genre: Inspirational/Worship, Rock, Pop
Music: Jami's most recently released CD is Faith In You, which came out in April 2008. Other recent albums include Bravo God and Hope of All the Earth, a Christmas CD. The songs "Salt and Light" and "Wash Over Me" from her 2002 album release Wash Over Me were chart toppers on Christian radio in the US. Her newest album, Faith In You features the title track, a song dedicated to the health care workers at St. Anthony Hospital in OKC and those everywhere who give so much in the health care profession. The new release also includes "You Dreamed for Me" written in honor of educators. Jami's music has been compared to that of other musicians such as Jennifer Knapp, Alison Krauss, Sarah Kelly, Vicky Beeching, and Waterdeep.[1]
Quotes: “Jami Smith is one of those rare people, creations or gifts from God, if you will, who explodes on stage with ultimate musicianship, singing, ministry and blessing... yet at once remains quietly profound. and naturally lovely." - Jon Rivers, KLOVE Radio.[2]
