James P. S. Thomson, MB MS (London) DM (Lambeth) FRCS LRCP DObst RCOG FBS, Master of London Charterhouse, United Kingdom. James Thomson grew up in the North London area and parish of Winchmore Hill. He continued to live there until he accepted the appointment of Master of Charter House. He is married to Kate, who is also a medical doctor. He was a regular attender and Server at his his parish church of St. Paul. His interests included church liturgy. He was a house surgeon at Middlesex Hospital, and a surgeon at St Mark's Hospital, London. Later Thomson was Consultant Surgeon and Clinical Director of St Mark's Hospital for Intestinal and Colorectal Disorders, Northwick Park, Harrow, London. James Thompson gave freely of his time and skills as one of the medical staff associated with St Luke's Hospital for Clergy.
On his retirement, he was appointed Master of the Charterhouse (Sutton's Hospital in Charterhouse), EC1M 6AN, a leading almshouse, and he remains an Emeritus Consultant Surgeon at St Mark's Hospital.
Thomson was awarded a degree of Doctor of Medicine by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1987, and is Secretary of the Lambeth Degree Association.
