James Rothery

James William Rothery was a first class cricketer who played 150 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1903 and 1910. A right handed batsman, he scored 4,619 runs at 20.99 with a highest score of 161 Kent. He scored 3 centuries in all, the others coming against Hampshire and Derbyshire, 21 fifties and took 45 catches. He took 2 wickets for 44 runs. He played 1 game of first class cricket for J Bamford's XI and for Yorkshire Second XI (1900-1911), Yorkshire Cricket Council (1903) and Durham (1913) in other matches.

He was born on September 5, 1876 in Staincliffe, Yorkshire and died on June 2, 1919 in Beckett Park in Leeds, aged just 42.
