[edit] History
The land on which the school and community center are situated was once part of Martin's Hundred in James Cittie, an incorporation of the Virginia Company of London which was established in 1619, twelve years after the first permanent English settlement in the present United States was established at Jamestown on May 14, 1607. The school site is also adjacent to historic Carter's Grove Plantation.
