James R. Geisler Middle School, (formerly known as Walled Lake Junior High School and/or Walled Lake Middle School), is a public school located in Walled Lake, Michigan. As one of the four middle schools in Walled Lake Consolidated Schools.[1], it includes grades sixth through eighth, and has a total more than 900 students and exactly 90 staff members.

As well as learning fundamental subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and English, James R. Geisler provides with other extended concept subjects. Here is a list of them: Art, Physical Education, Design Technology, Communication Arts, Life Management, World Language, Information Technology, Vocal Music, Band, and Orchestra (Starting in the school year of 2008/2009, many opinions of students and staff members at James R. Geisler have decided to no longer keep Information Technology as an elective subject). This school is named after the former superintendent of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, James R. Geisler, and honors his role he has done before he retired.

James R. Geisler Middle School has received an award for Superior Energy Performance by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.[citation needed]

[edit] Enrollment

Enrollment also exceeding the limit in which the school added a new section to the school in 2000. In the 2006-2007 school year, the school added a portable outdoor classroom. It will be use for years to come. Walled Lake Schools' School of Choice program involves James Geisler Middle. This means that any family who wishes to have their child attend this building, they can if they live in Oakland County but are not needed to be living in the district area. This is to fix the budget deficet in the district.

Mrs. Kristen Haglund, Miss America 2008, attended Geisler Middle School as well as Western High and Meadowbrook Elementary. James R. Geisler has also a wide range of ethnicity in its students and staff.

The mission statement of James R. Geisler Middle School is: "James R. Geisler Middle School staff, in cooperation with students, parents, and community, believe all students learn best in a supportive, safe, caring, and engaging environment, which enhances self-respect and personal growth. We are committed to students becoming responsible, reflective, and knowledgeable citizens of a diverse and changing world; life-long learning; the academic success of students by meeting individual needs through varied learning opportunities; and the attainment of educational and personal success through an active partnership among parents, community, staff, and students.
