James Plaintain

James Plantain (or Plaintain) (16??-17??) was a pirate and leader in Madagascar, and was called the 'King of Ranter Bay'. A former pirate who came to the harbor in 1715, he gained control of the island in 1725. He fled the island in 1728, in fear of a rebellion. He has the reputation of a cruel and corrupt ruler.[citation needed]
