James Paice

James Edward Thornton Paice (born 24 April 1949, Felixstowe, Suffolk) is a Conservative politician in the United Kingdom. He is the Member of Parliament for South East Cambridgeshire, and was first elected in the 1987 general election.

[edit] Early life
He went to the independent Framlingham College. At the Writtle Agricultural College, he received a National Diploma in Agriculture in 1970. He was a farm manager from 1970-3. From 1973-9, he was a farmer and contractor. From 1979-87, he was Training Manager at Framlingham Management and Training Services. At United Framlingham Farmers Ltd, he was non-executive Director from 1987-9, then Director from 1989-1994. From 1976 until 1987, he was on Suffolk Coastal District Council, becoming Chairman in 1983.
[edit] Parliamentary career
He contested the Caernarfon (UK Parliament constituency) seat in the 1979 general election. A junior minister under John Major in the Department of Employment from 1994-5, and the Department of Education and Employment from 1995-7. He was the Shadow Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for Michael Howard.

He married Ava Patterson in 1973. They have two sons.
