[edit] Club career
[edit] East End Boys Club
James began his career early on in the East End Boys Club immediately marking himself out in goals but also playing his fair share of games as an outfield player in many positions, specifically defense. He worked his way through the ranks and age groups of the club always showing promise of becoming a strong contender as a fully fledged professional player. Two things always evident were his commitment and enthusiasm for all aspects of the game. Once he developed to be picked up by the summer teams and Wick's Under 19s squad he continued his connection to East End by coaching the younger age groups to good success, gaining various levels of SFA Coaching Certificates through his school.
[edit] Wick North F.C
Always the football fan it was inevitable he would appear for his primary school team. However what may not have been seen was the coach playing him in central defense. The two main reasons being the teams already established and older Goalkeeper, but also James's no fear attitude to play, meaning he never shirked from a tackle or incoming ball. This lead him to be a regular starter in defense for the school team, while still playing in goal for East End.
[edit] Wick Academy U19 / Wick Rovers
For the next few years James would become a regular feature for Wick Academy's Under 19s squad and Wick Rovers summer league squad. Playing in goal for both teams his skills developed rapidly earning him a regular place on the Wick Academy full team squad on the bench. A minor set back came when playing for Rovers he broke his ankle and was out for a few months. This however never dampened his commitment and he used this time to continue coaching and often turned up at team training sessions regardless of his inability to take part.
[edit] Wick Academy
Drafted in from the U19 squad to replace Don MacMillan during a suspension in season 2004/2005, James had a brilliant match against local rivals Brora in 2005/2006 and is now the clubs established keeper. He was the automatic 1st choice for almost all of season 2006/07 and has grown in stature with every game he plays.
