James Moore (North Carolina)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James Moore (1737 – 15 April 1777) was a Patriot military commander in North Carolina during the American Revolutionary War.
After leading his militiamen to victory at the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge (27 February 1776), he was promoted to brigadier general in the Continental Army. He was later appointed commander of the Southern Department. His sudden death from illness deprived the Americans of one of their most promising field officers.
