James Metzenbaum

James Metzenbaum was a prominent lawyer in Cleveland, Ohio, who wrote a noted treatise on zoning law.
In 1942, Metzenbaum was nominated by the Democratic party for a seat in the United States House of Representatives. He lost the general election to incumbent Republican Frances P. Bolton.
In 1950, Metzenbaum ran as an independent for a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court. He lost to incumbent Republican William L. Hart.
Metzenbaum's cousin, Howard Metzenbaum served for two decades as a U.S. Senator from Ohio.
