James Manning Tyler

James Manning Tyler (April 27, 1835 - October 13, 1926) was a U.S. Representative from Vermont.

Born in Wilmington, Vermont, Tyler attended the Brattleboro Academy and was graduated from the Law University of Albany, New York. He was admitted to the bar in September 1860 and commenced practice in Wilmington, Vermont. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1863 and 1864. State's attorney in 1866 and 1867. Trustee of the Vermont Asylum for the Insane 1875-1926.

Tyler was elected as a Republican to the Forty-sixth and Forty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1879-March 3, 1883). He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1882. He resumed the practice of his profession in Brattleboro, Vermont. He was appointed a judge of the supreme court of the State in September 1887 and served until his resignation December 1, 1908. He served as president of the Vermont National Bank 1917-1923. He served as president of the Vermont-Peoples' National Bank in 1923 and 1924. He died in Brattleboro, Vermont, October 13, 1926. He was interred at the Prospect Hill Cemetery.
