James Madison, Sr.

James Madison, Sr. (Orange County, Virginia, March 27, 1723Montpelier, Orange County, Virginia, February 27, 1801) was a colonel in the American Revolutionary War and the owner of a tobacco plantation in Orange County, Virginia. He was the son of Ambrose Madison and wife Frances Taylor, and the father of President James Madison.

He married Eleanor Rose Conway (Port Conway, Caroline County, Virginia, January 9, 1731Montpelier, Orange County, Virginia, February 11, 1829) and they had twelve children:
