James Peter Lawson (born 21 January 1987) is an English professional footballer currently playing for Chelmsford City.
Lawson had a dream debut for Southend United, needing just 10 minutes to score in a 2-1 win over Oldham Athletic in 2005.
Lawson kept his place in the side for the next few weeks, getting another goal in a 3-1 victory against Tranmere Rovers, before injury put him on the side-lines.
Lawson is nicknamed 'Peanut' due to his likeness in looks to the tv character Peanut from the cartoon "Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Friends"

In September 2006 he went on a months loan to League Two side Grimsby Town. However, he was sent back to Roots Hall after just two weeks, after failing to break into the first team and making just one appearance as a substitute. Lawson also stated feeling homesick as one of his reasons for leaving Grimsby.
In January 2007, Lawson joined Bournemouth on a month's loan after failing to make the breakthrough to the first team in Southend's return to the Championship.
He was then loaned out to Dagenham & Redbridge in February 2007, for one-month where he made three substitute appearances for the Daggers.
On August 2 2007, it was announced that he had signed a one-year contract with Grays[1]. In October 2007, Lawson was loaned out to Ryman Premier outfit Chelmsford City[2]. The move was made permanent in January 2008.[3]
