James Knight is a former head coach of the Washington college football program from 1902-1904. He played college football as an end in 1896 at Princeton. He also lettered in gymnastics there. After graduating, he played for the Chicago Athletic Club. He was a member of the Detroit Rowing Club from 1898 to 1900. He also served as the rowing and track coach at Washington.
