James Joseph Patterson

James Joseph Patterson was a vice president and assistant managing editor of the New York Daily News.

Patterson was the only son of Joseph Medill Patterson, the founder of the New York Daily News and the great-grandson of Joseph Medill, owner of the Chicago Tribune and mayor of Chicago.

Patterson was born in England in 1923, raised in Ossining, New York, and died in Florida in 1992.

Patterson graduated from West Point in 1944 and went on to achieve the rank of Army captain.

Patterson married Adirondack author Barbara McMartin in January of 1968. The couple divorced in 1976.

Patterson's nephew, Joseph Medill Patterson Albright, married former United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
