James J. Rhoades is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate who has represented the 29th District since 1980.

Prior to his election to the State Senate, Rhoades served as principal of the Mahanoy Area Intermediate School and as a teacher and coach at the Pottsville and Mahanoy City High Schools.
