James Hartmann

James Hartman is a former Comptroller of Erie County, New York. He was appointed by the Erie County Legislature, to the post following the June 2005 resignation of former Comptroller Nancy Naples. With the term scheduled to expire at the end of the year, his term would only be six months and he did not seek a full term as comptroller. He was a fiscal and budget expert before taking the comptroller's post. He is a Republican and currently serves as the Erie County Budget Director in the Cabinet of Erie County Executive Joel Giambra. After leaving the comptroller's office and before becoming budget director in June 2006, Hartman served in Giambra's Cabinet as Director of Management Initiatives.
