James Gillan (born James Gillan Paterson 30th August, 1974 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish stage actor born in Glasgow and trained at The Arts Educational Schools in London. He is most notable as "Rusty" in Starlight Express, the title role in the Royal Festival Hall's Peter Pan[1] (with Richard Wilson and Susannah York) and more recently, as Boq in the UK version of the musical Wicked[2]. He starred as part of the original West End cast alongside Tony-award winning Idina Menzel and Helen Dallimore. He is confirmed to be playing this role until 7th June 2008.
He was nominated for a 1997 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical of 1996 for his role in Tommy.
