James Byrne (golfer)

James Byrne (born 2nd January 1989) is an amateur golfer from Banchory, Scotland, where he attended Banchory Academy. His home golf club is Banchory Golf Club, he is also a member of Inchmarlo Golf Club in Banchory.

Byrne had a very successful career as a junior golfer winning 9 national and regional championships including the 2007 Scottish Boys Open Championship and the 2006 Newlands Trophy (Scottish Men's National Order of Merit Event). At the conclusion of the 2007 season Byrne was ranked No.1 in the Scottish Golf Union Junior order of Merit.

Byrne was a member of the 2006 and 2007 Scottish and GB&I Boys teams, and the Scottish team in 2007. He began a four year golf scholarship at Arizona State University in August 2007.
