[edit] Fair use in BBC Jam

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. The logo is that of a service that has now been suspended, therefore it is used in the article for "historical" purposes.
  2. The style of the logo shows the reader who the service was targeted at by the style and positioning of the words used, which may be useful for those conducting research.
  3. The logo is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
  4. It is a low resolution image, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods, though it could never have been used on counterfit goods anyway.
  5. The logo is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner of the logo. The logo is simply placed at the side of the article to show the reader the logo of the now terminated service.
  6. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.
