Jaleh square massacre

Jaleh Square Massacre was an important event in the Iranian revolution of 1978. Jaleh (current name: Shohada = Martyrs) is a square is southern Tehran. On Sep 19, 1978 (Iranian calendar: 17 Shahrivar 1357) military units surrounded a large group of demonstrators in Jaleh Square and killed several of the demostrators with machine guns[1]. The official records reported 58 killed and 25 wounded, while the unofficial reports go as high as 4,000 dead.
