Jalbai is a village situated in Tehsil Lahor of district Swabi in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. The village is accessible on a junction westwards from Tordher on the main Swabi-Jehangira road. This is a plain area. The people living in Jalbai are Pakhtuns; and all of them are Muslims. Popular sports in Jalbai are Cricket, Volleyball, football for grown up while traditional games like chindro (Hopscotch), meergati and katchwan (Marbles) for children.
There is a high school and some primary schools in Jalbai educating the youth although illiteracy and poverty has been traditional problems to the village. A significant amount of people contribute to the economy of Jalbai by sending in remittances from the Persian Gulf where they work although the occupation of the people of Jalbai primarily has been farming or trading in farming products. The people of Jalbai are friendly, very hospitable, cheerful and very brave.
Famous politician the former District Nazim, ex-Transport Minister and former Member Provincial Assembly Sher Zaman Sher belonged to Jalbai.
It is said that Jalbai is named after its position as Jail B in British Rule.
